Teyana Taylor Says $70K Divorce Fee Was ‘Best Money Spent’ To Finally Get Peace From Iman Shumpert

Teyana Taylor is speaking her truth about her split from former NBA star Iman Shumpert—and she’s not holding back about the price tag that came with it.

In a recent sit-down, the multi-hyphenate star revealed that the $70,000 she was ordered to pay in legal fees tied to her divorce was money well spent.

“That was the best little coin I ever spent in my life because I never have to deal with this again,” Taylor said, making it clear that peace of mind outweighed the financial sting.

The payment stemmed from a contempt of court ruling earlier this summer. Back in July, a judge found Taylor in violation of a gag order after she hopped on Instagram Live in March to clear the air on rumors about her split. She defended herself against claims that she was attempting to take Shumpert’s assets, but the move cost her big.

As part of the ruling, Taylor was ordered to cover Shumpert’s $70,000 legal bill while her own request for reimbursement was denied. Still, the judge did dismiss one of Shumpert’s motions accusing her of violating their parenting plan.

Instead of calling it a loss, Teyana flipped the narrative. She framed the steep bill as an investment in her freedom and peace, saying the payout meant no more drawn-out drama or messy back-and-forth.

“Sometimes peace is more important than pride,” Taylor admitted. “I paid it, and I’m moving on with my life.”

With her divorce officially behind her, the powerhouse creative is now focusing on her career, her kids, and her next big moves—leaving the baggage in the past where it belongs.
