A T-Mobile employee is now facing charges after allegedly sending herself $400 via Cash App — straight from a customer’s phone she was supposed to be fixing.

According to police reports, the employee was assisting a customer with a routine phone issue when she accessed the device, opened the Cash App account, and transferred $400 to her own account without permission. The unsuspecting customer only realized what happened after checking their transaction history later that day.

When confronted, the employee reportedly tried to deny the transfer — but investigators quickly traced the Cash App username and payment trail back to her personal account. She was later arrested and charged with theft and fraud.

The incident has since gone viral, with many social media users joking that this might be “the dumbest scam of 2025.” Others are calling out T-Mobile for trusting employees with customer data without stronger security measures in place.

The company has not publicly commented on the situation yet, but sources say the employee has been terminated pending the outcome of the criminal investigation.
