Spike Lee Nearly Goes Off on Fan at Yankee Stadium During Pregame Dinner

Spike Lee found himself at the center of a heated moment before Wednesday night’s Yankees game after a fan reportedly confronted the legendary filmmaker while he was having dinner at Yankee Stadium.

Lee was dining in the Legends Suite area before the New York Yankees faced the Boston Red Sox when the situation reportedly escalated. According to people who were closer to the table, a fan began filming Lee while he was eating and questioned him about Palestine.

Video of the incident circulating online shows Lee appearing visibly upset as people around him move in to intervene. Staff members could be seen holding Lee back as the confrontation unfolded. No punches were thrown in the video that has circulated.

The New York Post reported that the fan allegedly made a provocative comment about Palestine while filming Lee. The fan was subsequently removed from the stadium, according to the report. Neither Lee’s representatives nor the Yankees had immediately commented on the incident.

Lee, 69, is no stranger to New York sports. The Oscar-winning filmmaker has long been a fixture at Knicks games and is also a longtime Yankees fan. He has previously spoken publicly about his love for baseball and his connection to New York sports culture.

The incident also comes as Yankee Stadium maintains rules governing fan conduct and recording. Stadium policies state that guests must follow staff directions and prohibit certain recording equipment and unauthorized transmission of game-related content.

For now, the video has sparked plenty of discussion online about where the line should be drawn when celebrities are approached while eating—and what happens when a fan takes the interaction too far.

Spike Lee was NOT trying to hear it at dinner. 👀
