Shaunie Henderson took to social media to personally announce that the hit VH1 reality series will not be returning. Making it clear she wanted to control the narrative, Shaunie said she chose to share the news herself before rumors began circulating.

In her heartfelt video, Shaunie described the conclusion of the show as “growth” and a natural step forward in her journey. She reflected on Basketball Wives as a defining moment in her professional career — a platform that amplified voices, created opportunities, and sparked cultural conversations.

She also expressed gratitude to the women who trusted her with their stories over the years, as well as the producers, creatives, and networks who helped bring the vision to life.

“Basketball Wives Update: You heard it here first.

Basketball Wives will not be returning.

Thank you to BET, VH1, Shed Media and to everyone who supported this chapter from the very beginning. What started as a vision became a platform that amplified voices and opened doors.

This isn’t an ending, it’s a transition. I’m stepping into a new season with exciting projects ahead that align with where I am personally and professionally. More to come.

Since its debut in 2010, Basketball Wives became one of reality TV’s most talked-about franchises, known for its explosive conflicts, evolving friendships, and headline-making moments. The show expanded into multiple cities and helped launch or elevate several cast members’ brands and careers.

While longtime fans may feel the end of an era, Shaunie made it clear this isn’t a goodbye — it’s a pivot. And if history proves anything, she’s likely already cooking up the next big move.
