Nick Cannon Keeps It Real: “I Hope My Daughters Don’t Date Men Like Me”

Nick Cannon is getting brutally honest about fatherhood — and his past. In a recent sit‑down with Extra’s Mona Kosar Abdi, the 44‑year‑old entertainer reflected on his former “player” lifestyle and how being a dad has changed his perspective.
While Cannon has made headlines for his large and blended family, he made it clear there’s one thing he’s hoping his five daughters will avoid: men like him.
“Hopefully my daughters learn from my mistakes and not date people like their dad,” Cannon admitted.
The multi‑hyphenate star, who’s been open about his love life and relationship history, said raising daughters has forced him to think differently about the way men approach women. He credits fatherhood with helping him slow down, gain more empathy, and better understand the long‑term impact of his choices.
Though Cannon didn’t dive into specifics, his track record speaks for itself — from his high‑profile marriage to Mariah Carey to fathering 12 children with multiple women. Still, he insists he’s working on being the best role model possible for his kids, both in love and in life.
