Nelly Set to Perform at Donald Trump’s Inaugural Ball
Rapper Nelly is scheduled to perform at President-elect Donald Trump’s Liberty Inaugural Ball on January 20, 2025, joining a lineup that includes Jason Aldean and The Village People.
This announcement has surprised many, given Nelly’s previous criticisms of Trump. In a 2017 interview with Page Six, Nelly expressed his disapproval of Trump’s presidency, stating, “I liked Donald Trump… I just don’t like Donald Trump as my president.” He further commented on Trump’s behavior, saying, “He doesn’t surprise me as a person, he surprises me as a president… Because you don’t expect certain things, certain attitudes.”
Despite these past remarks, Nelly’s participation in the inaugural event underscores the evolving dynamics between artists and political figures. His performance is anticipated to add a unique flair to the evening’s festivities.
