Myspace Is Making a Comeback! Owners Confirm Iconic Social Media Platform Is Being Relaunched

More than two decades after the once-dominant social media platform changed the internet forever, Myspace owners Chris Vanderhook and Tim Vanderhook have confirmed they’re planning to relaunch the iconic site.

Speaking in Tommy Avallone’s documentary Myspace, Tim revealed that the company hasn’t given up on bringing the platform back.

“We still own Myspace. We are stewards of the Myspace brand at this point, and we are going to relaunch Myspace. We’re just waiting for the right time to do it. And if that one doesn’t work, we’ll do it again.”

Although many people believe Myspace disappeared, the platform has actually remained active under different ownership groups over the years, with several attempts to reinvent it.

Chris and Tim previously purchased Myspace in 2011 and spent two years redesigning the platform with a stronger focus on music. However, they admitted the relaunch couldn’t recapture the magic that made Myspace a cultural phenomenon.

“We built an entirely new Myspace,” Chris explained, while Tim added, “We really tried to modernize it, but it was a different company at that point. It wasn’t the same Myspace.”

The brothers said the platform had already gone through multiple leadership changes before they took over, making it difficult to restore the brand. They also faced major financial setbacks as advertisers shifted their focus to Facebook.

Despite those challenges, Myspace remains one of the most nostalgic names in internet history.

For millions who grew up in the early 2000s, Myspace wasn’t just another social media app—it was where users customized profile layouts, selected songs that automatically played when someone visited their page, ranked their closest friends in the famous Top 8, and, of course, became instant friends with co-founder Tom Anderson.

The platform also played a major role in launching music careers. Superstar Adele has credited Myspace with helping her get discovered after a friend uploaded her demo to the site, leading to industry attention.
