Kevin Gates and Brittany Renner Have Divorced After Being Married for Only 52 Days

Kevin Gates and Brittany Renner are officially calling it quits—just 52 days after tying the knot.

The whirlwind marriage began on April 6 and ended on May 28, as Renner herself confirmed during a recent interview on the BET Awards black carpet. The fitness influencer and media personality opened up about the quick divorce and how her faith in Islam is helping her through the transition.

“We got married April sixth and divorced May twenty-eighth,” Renner said candidly. “So you’re divorced? Yes. But there is a ninety-day waiting period in Islam where it’s basically you have ninety days to see if you’re pregnant because then, you know, he would be responsible.”

She went on to explain that the 90-day period, known as iddah, also serves as a time for possible reconciliation. “Allah wants you to stay married,” she shared. “During those ninety days, you are not to entertain anybody romantically.”

Renner remained composed and reflective while talking about the breakup, adding that Islam has helped her find peace through the chaos. “What I will say is that Islam has made my life a lot easier. Even with this transition and things changing… I don’t think anybody gets married to not stay married.”

Still, she’s taking this time to focus on herself: “This is a nice ninety-day reset just focusing on myself and pouring into myself. And what I also will add is that I followed my heart—and that’s more than what most people can say in this world. And I have no shame in that. That’s why I’m here. BET Awards. As you can see, I’m out here on this blacktop by myself.”

While neither Gates nor Renner have shared specific reasons for the split, her comments suggest the separation was peaceful and grounded in spiritual growth.
