Karen Huger of “RHOP” Sentenced to Two Years with One Year Suspended After DUI Incident

Karen Huger, star of The Real Housewives of Potomac (RHOP), has been sentenced to two years in prison, with one year suspended, following a March 19, 2024, incident in which she crashed her Maserati into a pole near Oaklyn Drive in Potomac. Huger was convicted on five of six charges, including driving under the influence (DUI), negligent driving, failure to control speed, and failure to notify authorities of a change of address. She was acquitted of reckless driving.
The charges stemmed from body camera footage and witness testimony presented during her trial, which painted a clear picture of her intoxication at the time of the crash. An EMT testified that Huger was swaying on her feet and refused medical treatment, while police video showed her slurring her speech, cursing at officers, and refusing both a breathalyzer and field sobriety tests.
Following the verdict, Huger entered a private recovery program to address her issues with substance abuse. She is expected to speak at her sentencing hearing before Judge Terrence McGann, where she will have the opportunity to address the court.
