Gunna Covers YSL Tattoo Amid Ongoing Rift with Young Thug; Thug Responds Online

Atlanta rapper Gunna has reignited speculation about his relationship with Young Thug and the YSL collective after fans noticed he had covered up his prominent YSL tattoo. In recent shirtless photos shared on social media, the tattoo—once a symbol of his affiliation with Young Stoner Life Records—appears to be replaced with a new design.

The change comes amid ongoing rumors of tension between Gunna and Young Thug, stemming from the 2022 RICO case that implicated several YSL members. Gunna accepted a plea deal in December 2022, leading to accusations from some fans and peers that he had cooperated with authorities—a claim he has consistently denied. Young Thug, who was released from jail in October 2024 after accepting a plea deal, has been less than forthcoming about their current relationship. In an April 2025 interview with GQ, when asked about his standing with Gunna, Thug responded, “I don’t know” .

Adding fuel to the fire, Young Thug seemingly addressed Gunna’s tattoo cover-up in a recent Instagram comment, stating, “I mean… he said it must end lol” . This remark appears to reference Gunna’s courtroom statement during his plea deal, where he acknowledged that YSL was a gang and that it “must end.”
