📻💔 Hot 97 Shake-Up: Funk Flex Denies Playing A Role In Getting DJ Enuff Fired

Hot 97 is going through major changes — and one of NYC’s most familiar radio voices is out.

DJ Enuff, who’s been rocking with the station for nearly three decades, has officially been let go in a surprising shake-up of the schedule. His exit sparked rumors that fellow DJ and Bronx legend Funkmaster Flex had a hand in the firing, but Flex made it clear he had nothing to do with it.

“TMZ could never twist me up to flip on my guy, I love him to death,” Flex said during his final 7 p.m. show on Sept. 1, before confirming he’ll now hold down the 5–10 p.m. slot.

Because of how he worded his announcement, fans initially thought Flex was leaving Hot 97 altogether. But instead, it was Enuff who ended up as the shock casualty of the shake-up.

Flex doubled down on his stance:

“I would never have anything to do — not just my brother. I would have nothing to do with anyone being fired. You know why? I’m too hot. Why would I be worried about anybody in here? I don’t influence that. I don’t need to. I like to grind.”

Still, he didn’t shy away from pointing fingers elsewhere, hinting that Enuff’s real ops might’ve been closer than he thought:

“The people who snaked you, man, was in that video on your goodbye. The people who snaked you were standing outside when you was with TMZ… you go back to that video and you really look at their faces.”

Those in the clip included Enuff’s wife and co-workers DJ Drewski, DJ E-Stylez, and DJ Lady S. Interestingly, Drewski was one of the DJs who benefitted from the shake-up, landing the 11 a.m.–1 p.m. slot.

Despite the drama, Flex gave Enuff his flowers:

“He is the originator of putting the line at those Spanish clubs around the block… there would be no Spanish hip-hop parties without DJ Enuff.”

Enuff leaves behind a 27-year legacy at Hot 97, where he helped elevate hip-hop culture and shaped New York’s radio sound.
