Jim Jones knows how to keep the hip hop debates alive—and this time, Nas’ name is in the mix.

On Sunday (Aug. 17), Jones launched his brand-new podcast, Artist 2 Artist, with his first guest being Brooklyn drill star Fivio Foreign. Things got spicy when the conversation turned to fellow New Yorker, Nas, one of the most celebrated rappers in the game.

Fivio shared his honest perspective, saying:

“I’m not saying that the man is wack, he’s not a legend. I got a song with the n*a—I got a song on the album and the album got a Grammy. But I can’t sit there and say a Nas bar to you or a song.”

He eventually admitted that he rocks with “One Mic” from Nas’ Stillmatic album, but the statement still raised eyebrows.

Jones, however, quickly pushed back:

“But I can. … Nas was my era. I came up f*ing with Nas. I know the Nas shit. … But moving forward, I started a whole new era in a whole new genre and a generation of people. I just be doing me.”

The clip has since sparked heated convo online, with fans debating whether Nas’ impact stretches equally across different generations—or if newer artists like Fivio simply connect more with the waves of their time.

One thing’s for sure: Jim’s podcast debut did exactly what it was supposed to—get people talking.
