The Cardi B and Latto situation isn’t completely over just yet.

After Latto recently sat down with The Breakfast Club and opened up about how she felt after hearing Cardi’s infamous “Pu$$y A$$ Latto” rant, Cardi wasted no time responding publicly through X, formerly known as Twitter.

In a lengthy message, Cardi acknowledged Latto’s feelings and explained why she chose to apologize publicly after the leaked audio circulated online.

“I truly understand how you feel… and that’s exactly why I chose to apologize publicly because the disrespect became public,” Cardi wrote.

The Bronx superstar insisted she never intended for the nickname to be taken the way it was received and claimed her words were misunderstood during what she described as a heated conversation.

“On that call I didn’t even mean to call you that. I didn’t mean any harm,” Cardi explained. “There’s a difference in what I said versus what I meant.”

According to Cardi, she was under significant pressure at the time. She revealed that she was eight months pregnant, had just released an album, and was feeling emotionally overwhelmed when the situation unfolded.

While making it clear she wasn’t using pregnancy as an excuse, Cardi said she genuinely regretted the comments and felt bad about the fallout.

The Grammy-winning rapper also pushed back against the idea that she never attempted to make things right behind the scenes.

Cardi claims that throughout 2025 and 2026 she made several efforts to reconnect with Latto, including reaching out through her manager, speaking with her sister, and even sending direct messages.

“I always had love and respect for you,” Cardi wrote. “I always wanted to make it right.”

However, Cardi suggested that the two artists had different ideas about how the issue should have been resolved.

The most talked-about line from her response came when she appeared to address Latto’s decision to reference the situation in her music.

“I wanted to connect with you, but you wanted to address it on your album,” Cardi stated.

The exchange comes after Latto revealed she felt hurt because she considered Cardi a real friend and believed a private phone call could have resolved the issue. While Latto said she’s open to talking in the future, she admitted she’s currently focused on motherhood and her growing family.
