Brooklyn Rapper Sheff G Pleads Guilty in Gang RICO Case, Faces Five-Year Federal Sentence

On Wednesday, March 26, Brooklyn rapper Sheff G, born Michael Williams, learned his fate in a highly publicized gang RICO case that has cast a shadow over his career since 2023. The Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office announced that Sheff G pled guilty to second-degree attempted murder and second and fourth-degree conspiracy charges. As part of a plea deal, the rapper will face a federal prison sentence of five years and five years of probation after his release.
Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez addressed the case, stating, “Notoriety could not shield this defendant from justice. He used his fame to fund and direct violence, terrorizing our streets, and though we sought a much longer sentence, he will now be held to account. Brooklyn will not tolerate gangs that endanger our communities, and we remain committed to dismantling these criminal networks and holding those responsible fully accountable.”
Sheff G was one of 32 alleged members of the 8 Trey Crips and its affiliate, the 9 Ways gang, who were indicted in May 2023. The indictment includes charges related to 12 shootings, leaving over a dozen victims, including three innocent bystanders, injured. Among the most serious charges is the 2020 murder of Theodore Senior, who was killed during a mass shooting. Prosecutors allege that Sheff G used earnings from his music career to fuel violence, offering money and expensive jewelry to those carrying out violent acts on his behalf.
Authorities also revealed that, two days after Senior’s murder, Sheff G hosted a lavish celebration at a Manhattan steakhouse. Further details from the indictment describe Sheff driving gunmen to Flatbush in 2021 to retaliate for a shooting at his New Jersey mansion, although the gunmen missed their target and injured two innocent bystanders instead.
Sheff G’s plea makes him the 17th defendant to plead guilty in the ongoing case. His official sentencing is set for August 13. Fellow rapper Sleepy Hallow, who was also charged in the indictment, has yet to face trial.
