‘Power: Origins’ Introduces a New Generation of Ghost and Tommy as the Franchise Moves Into Its Next Era

Every legend has an origin—and STARZ is preparing to take viewers back to the beginning of two of the Poweruniverse’s most recognizable characters.

The first look at Power: Origins introduces Spence Moore II as a young James “Ghost” St. Patrick and Charlie Mann as a young Tommy Egan, the roles originally made famous by Omari Hardwick and Joseph Sikora. Mekai Curtis will continue portraying Kanan Stark following the conclusion of Power Book III: Raising Kanan.

Set years before Ghost became the polished nightclub owner audiences met in the original series, Origins will explore the early ambitions, decisions and relationships that shaped Ghost, Tommy and Kanan. Rather than simply revisiting familiar characters, the prequel has an opportunity to reveal how their brotherhood was built—and where the first fractures began.

Recasting characters with such devoted fan bases is no small assignment. Hardwick and Sikora developed a chemistry that became central to the original show’s success. Moore and Mann must now honor those performances while creating younger versions who feel like complete characters rather than imitations.

The new series also signals the next stage of the franchise. With Raising Kanan completing its five-season run, Originscreates a direct bridge between Kanan’s adolescence and the criminal empire audiences witnessed in Power.

More than a decade after the original show debuted, the Power universe continues to expand because its central themes—ambition, loyalty, family and betrayal—remain compelling.

Fans may know how Ghost and Tommy’s story ends. Power: Origins is preparing to reveal exactly how it began.
