Royce White Debuts New Wig As Former NBA Player Enters His “FEMININE ERA” Ahead Of 2027 WNBA Draft Bid

Former NBA player Royce White is making headlines after unveiling a new wig as part of a public campaign surrounding his stated plans to enter the 2027 WNBA Draft.

White, 35, took to X on Sunday to show off what he described as his first wig, telling followers, “It came y’all… My 1st wig! Tomorrow I test it on the court.” He also referred to the moment as part of his “feminine era” and said he wanted to “play some hoops with my fellow ladies.”

The announcement follows White’s statement Friday that he identifies as a transgender woman and intends to declare for the 2027 WNBA Draft. White has also publicly challenged the league to clarify its eligibility standards regarding transgender athletes.

Standing at 6-foot-8, White was selected No. 16 overall by the Houston Rockets in the 2012 NBA Draft after playing college basketball at Iowa State. He later appeared in three NBA games for the Sacramento Kings in 2014 before continuing his professional basketball career overseas and in other leagues.

White’s WNBA ambitions come while he is also pursuing a political career. He is a Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate in Minnesota in the 2026 election, according to state and federal election records.

The development arrives as transgender participation in women’s sports continues to spark debate across professional athletics. The WNBA has also faced questions about its eligibility policies, with Commissioner Cathy Engelbert recently telling teams that league officials would continue discussions surrounding player eligibility standards.
