Former NBA superstar Dwight Howard has officially filed for divorce from his wife Amy Luciani, just hours after she made shocking allegations about him during a viral Instagram livestream.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Howard filed for divorce Monday morning, listing the couple’s marriage date as January 11, 2025. In the filing, Howard stated that the marriage is “irretrievably broken” and said there is no hope of reconciliation.

Despite the filing, Howard reportedly indicated that the couple is not currently separated, though he is moving forward with ending the marriage.

In the documents, the former Los Angeles Lakers champion also requested exclusive use of his Georgia mansion as part of the divorce proceedings. The filing noted that the couple does not share any children together.

The divorce move comes shortly after Luciani made explosive claims about their household during an emotional Instagram Live. During the livestream, she alleged that Child Protective Services had removed Howard’s daughter from their home, though that claim has not been independently confirmed.

Luciani’s livestream quickly went viral online, with fans reacting to the serious accusations and personal details she shared about their relationship.

Howard has not publicly responded to the allegations made during the livestream, and his representatives have not commented further on the situation.

The couple’s relationship has been anything but smooth. Luciani initially filed for divorce in July 2025, just about six months after they married, but later withdrew the petition. Around the same time, Howard filed his own divorce petition as well — which was also eventually dismissed.

Now, it appears the former NBA star is once again moving to legally end the marriage.
