Kevin Gates just shared one of the most personal and painful chapters of his life.

During a recent appearance on Club Shay Shay with Shannon Sharpe, the Baton Rouge rapper revealed for the first time that he was sexually assaulted by a man when he was a teenager. Speaking candidly, Gates said the trauma followed him for years before he found the strength to address it publicly.

Gates told Sharpe that the man responsible is no longer alive. “He’s dead. He’s outta here… He’ll never do that to anybody again,” Gates stated bluntly.

While he chose not to go into graphic detail about the assault, Gates made it clear that the experience had a lasting impact on his life — especially in how he approaches protection, boundaries, and fatherhood.

“I really broke generational curses with that situation,” Gates shared, explaining that the trauma pushed him to become more intentional and present with his children. He emphasized that he has created an open and safe environment at home where his kids feel comfortable speaking up about anything.

According to Gates, one of his biggest motivations is ensuring his children never carry the silence he once did.

The rapper also connected his healing journey to his music. He revealed that his 2024 track “Protect Children” was born from a place of reflection and growth, not just pain. The song, he said, allowed him to confront emotions he had suppressed for years and transform them into something purposeful.

By opening up now, Gates made it clear that his goal isn’t shock value — it’s healing. He hopes his story encourages honest conversations about abuse, accountability, and breaking generational cycles.

In an industry where vulnerability is often masked, Gates’ revelation marks a powerful moment of transparency and growth.
