Talk about highs and lows in the same day — Rod Wave found himself in handcuffs just hours after celebrating his first-ever Grammy nomination.

According to the Atlanta Police Department, the 26-year-old rapper — born Rodarius Green — was arrested late November 7, 2025, after officers pulled him over for reckless driving on Fulton Industrial Boulevard.

During the stop, police reportedly discovered a loaded Glock 19, marijuana, and codeine syrup inside his vehicle. Rod was taken into custody and later charged with four felonies, including possession of a controlled substance and possession of a firearm during a felony.

Despite the serious charges, Rod Wave was able to post an $8,000 bond and was released the next day.

What makes the timing wild is that the arrest happened just hours after Rod learned he’d been nominated for a Grammy in the Best Melodic Rap Performance category for his emotional hit “Call Your Friends” off his latest album Last Lap.

Fans immediately flooded social media with support and disbelief, calling the situation “crazy timing” and “the definition of bittersweet.” Others pointed out how the rapper’s music often touches on pain, struggle, and the realities of street life — now reflected in real time.

As of now, Rod Wave’s legal team hasn’t made an official statement, and his next court date has yet to be set.
