“The Cosby Show” Star Malcolm-Jamal Warner Dead at 54 from Accidental Drowning

Malcolm-Jamal Warner — beloved actor, musician, and Emmy-nominated star of The Cosby Show — has reportedly died at the age of 54, TMZ has learned.
A source close to Warner, though unconfirmed, tells TMZ that the cause of death appears to be an accidental drowning. Details surrounding the incident are still developing.
Warner rose to fame in the 1980s as Theodore Huxtable, the witty and lovable son of Cliff and Clair Huxtable on the hit NBC sitcom The Cosby Show. The role earned him an Emmy nomination and solidified his place in television history as part of one of the most iconic Black families ever portrayed on screen.
He later starred in the UPN comedy Malcolm & Eddie alongside Eddie Griffin and lent his voice to the animated series The Magic School Bus, captivating a new generation of young viewers. Beyond acting, Warner was a gifted spoken word artist and musician — even winning a Grammy Award in 2015 for Best Traditional R&B Performance alongside Robert Glasper and Lalah Hathaway.
In recent years, Warner had turned to podcasting, most recently hosting Not All Hood, a project where he explored deeper cultural issues. The latest episode of the show was released just three days ago.
Though a public figure, Warner was famously private when it came to his personal life. He leaves behind a wife and daughter, whose names he chose not to reveal publicly, preferring to keep his family out of the spotlight.
Warner was 54 years old. His sudden passing has left fans and fellow entertainers shocked and heartbroken. Tributes have already begun pouring in across social media, honoring a man whose talent, integrity, and impact transcended generations.
This is a developing story.
