Shannon Sharpe Clashes with Jim Jones Over Nas Comments: “What Were You Smoking?”
Shannon Sharpe didn’t mince words during a recent episode of Nightcap when he confronted rapper Jim Jones over past claims that he’s better than hip-hop legend Nas. Around the 1:04:00 mark, the NFL Hall of Famer bluntly asked, “What were you smoking when you said you’re better than Nas?”—setting the stage for a fiery and funny debate.
Sharpe firmly defended Nas, insisting Jim couldn’t touch the Queensbridge icon “past or present” when it comes to lyrical skill. Jim admitted he may have misspoken when boasting about having more Billboard hits than Nas, but stood his ground on one point: he still believes he’d beat Nas in a rap battle today.
The back-and-forth ended on a lighter note, with Jim flipping the script and challenging Shannon to a workout duel. “You might be able to lift more than me,” he laughed, “but I’d still outwork you.”
