Wendy Williams’ Ex-Husband Kevin Hunter Filed a $250 million Lawsuit Seeking To End Her Guardianship, Wendy Denies Involvement

Wendy Williams is distancing herself from a bombshell lawsuit filed by her ex-husband, Kevin Hunter, who is suing over her court-appointed guardianship — a move she calls a blatant “money grab.”
According to newly obtained legal documents filed in federal court in New York, Kevin Hunter is suing on Wendy’s behalf, demanding her release from the guardianship overseen by Sabrina Morrissey. The lawsuit accuses Morrissey of abuse, neglect, and exploitation, and seeks a staggering $250 million in damages.
The filing alleges that Wendy’s guardianship — implemented in 2022 after Wells Fargo froze her bank accounts over suspected financial mismanagement — has become a “punishment” rather than a protective measure. Kevin claims the guardianship lacks therapeutic purpose and asserts Wendy is competent to handle her own affairs.
Hunter also says Wendy passed a mental competency evaluation in March 2025 and that medical professionals described her as “alert and oriented.” Yet, he claims no steps were taken to end the guardianship, alleging she remains a “captive of a corrupt, criminal enterprise.”
He also alleges that someone at The Coterie, the assisted living facility where Wendy currently resides, secretly took and sold compromising photos of her to media outlets — including images of her in a state of undress.
But here’s where it gets messier: TMZ reports they spoke directly to Wendy following the lawsuit’s filing, and she says she has nothing to do with the legal action. Despite Kevin naming her as a plaintiff in the suit, Wendy insists she didn’t authorize the filing and is not involved — making it clear she believes Kevin is acting out of personal financial interest rather than concern for her well-being.
The suit also accuses Wendy’s former financial advisor Lori Schiller and ex-manager Bernie Young of exploiting her finances without her consent. Wells Fargo is also named as a defendant, with claims that the bank “coerced” Wendy into guardianship amid emotional and financial distress.
Wendy and Kevin’s history is well-documented. The pair divorced in 2020 after a tumultuous 21-year marriage that ended amid scandal, and their post-split relationship has remained strained.
Now, with Kevin taking legal action that Wendy herself has publicly disavowed, the situation raises serious questions about control, motive, and who truly has Wendy’s best interest at heart.
The case is pending in federal court.
