Carmelo Anthony Clarifies Viral ‘Risk It All’ Photo with Rihanna
Former NBA star Carmelo Anthony has addressed the context behind a viral photo from the 2014 Met Gala after-party, where he appeared to be gazing intently at singer Rihanna. The image sparked widespread online commentary, with many humorously suggesting that Anthony looked ready to “risk it all,” despite being married to La La Anthony at the time.
On a recent episode of his podcast, 7PM in Brooklyn, Anthony recounted the events leading up to the snapshot. He explained that the venue was filled with flashing cameras as celebrities arrived, creating a chaotic atmosphere. Seeking to remain inconspicuous, Anthony sat down and lowered his head. However, when Rihanna approached to pose nearby, the camera flashes intensified. Anthony looked up momentarily, inadvertently becoming part of the now-famous photograph. He emphasized that his expression was a reaction to the overwhelming media attention rather than any personal feelings toward Rihanna.
By sharing this account, Anthony aimed to dispel misconceptions and provide clarity on a moment that had been widely misinterpreted.
