Flo Rida Wins Lawsuit Against Celsius Energy Drink, Awarded $82 Million

Flo Rida, whose real name is Tramar Dillard, has been awarded Dillard $82 million in damages after a jury concluded Celsius owed him money after breaching an endorsement contract.

Flo Rida signed an endorsement deal helping launch the energy drink company Celsius to success back in 2014. He renewed his contract in 2016. In 2021 he sued Celsius for breach of contract. He claims he was not given the perks like stock options and bonuses promised to him in his contract. The rap star claims the bonuses were promised based on meeting sale goals. He says the company the not reveal the info of completing those goals.

“He’s entitled to 500,000 shares of stock via the contract, and entitled to 250,000 shares of stock if certain things happen—one of those yardsticks is that a certain number of units of products need to be sold, but unfortunately the contract doesn’t specify which type of unit—is it a box, is it a drink? And there’s no timeframe or deadline,” lawyer John Uustal told Insider.

Celsius lawyers argued in documents that the statute of limitations for Flo Rida to sue them on these terms had passed. The deal had ended in 2018.
