No Pass Overseas: Wiz Khalifa Hit With 9-Month Prison Sentence in Romania 🇷🇴

Rap superstar Wiz Khalifa is facing serious consequences overseas after a Romanian appellate court sentenced him to nine months in prison, overturning an earlier ruling that only imposed a fine.

According to court records cited by local outlet Cancan, the Constanța Court of Appeal reversed a lower court decision that had allowed the Pittsburgh rapper to walk away with a 3,000 Romanian lei fine. Prosecutors from Romania’s DIICOT agency appealed the ruling, arguing that a custodial sentence was required under the law — and the judges agreed.

Wiz, born Cameron Thomaz, was convicted under Law No. 143/2000 for unlawful possession of dangerous drugs for personal use. Authorities stressed the case did not involve trafficking, but the appellate court ruled that prison time was still warranted. The decision is final and binding, leaving no further legal appeals.

The case dates back to 2024, when Wiz was briefly detained and later released. While other countries have softened penalties for small-scale possession, Romania continues to enforce strict drug laws, regardless of celebrity status.

For Wiz Khalifa, the ruling is a stark reminder that what flies at home doesn’t always travel well abroad.
