RIP Mr. Belding 💔 Dennis Haskins, ‘Saved by the Bell’ Star, Dies at 75

The man behind one of television’s most recognizable principals has passed away.

Dennis Haskins, best known for playing Principal Richard Belding on the beloved teen sitcom Saved by the Bell, has died at the age of 75. His longtime agent and friend, Jay Schachter, confirmed the actor’s death to TMZ.

“It’s a tragic loss,” Schachter said, remembering Haskins as someone who was deeply loved both by his fans and the people who knew him personally.

“He was a great person, and he loved, I mean absolutely LOVED his fans,” Schachter said. “He always had time for them, no matter what.”

Haskins’ cause of death has not been disclosed.

For an entire generation of television viewers, Haskins was Principal Belding, the no-nonsense leader of Bayside High who was constantly trying to keep Zack Morris and his classmates from getting into trouble.

And whenever chaos broke out at Bayside, fans knew exactly what was coming:

“Hey, hey, hey, what is going on here?”

Haskins first became a familiar face to audiences in the late 1980s and 1990s through Saved by the Bell. He later reprised his iconic role in several installments of the franchise, including Saved by the Bell: The College Years and Saved by the Bell: The New Class.

Beyond the character that made him famous, Haskins was remembered by those close to him as a kind person who genuinely appreciated the people who supported his career.

Schachter, who represented Haskins for more than two decades, described him as not only a longtime client but also a dear friend.

“He was my client and dear friend for over 20 years, and I will miss him terribly,” Schachter said.

Dennis Haskins leaves behind a television legacy that remains familiar to fans who grew up watching Saved by the Bell.
