Basketball icon Michael Jordan is set to make his long-awaited debut in NBA broadcasting, joining NBC Sports as a special contributor beginning with the 2025–26 season. The announcement was made at NBCUniversal’s Upfront event at Radio City Music Hall, marking a historic moment for both Jordan and the network.

This move comes as NBC prepares to return to NBA broadcasting for the first time since 2002, following a massive 11-year, $76 billion media rights agreement secured alongside Disney and Amazon. NBC’s coverage will include exclusive Monday night games on Peacock, Tuesday night doubleheaders across NBC and Peacock, and the highly anticipated launch of Sunday Night Basketball in January 2026.

Jordan, who won all six of his NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls during NBC’s previous tenure as the league’s broadcast partner, reflected on the network’s role in his storied career. “NBC was the soundtrack to some of the most memorable moments of my life on the court,” said Jordan. “It’s exciting to be part of this new chapter and connect with fans in a new way.”

As a special contributor, Jordan will provide exclusive interviews, curated segments, and occasional appearances during major NBA broadcasts, including Christmas Day games, All-Star Weekend, and the NBA Finals. While he has maintained a low media profile since retiring in 2003 and selling the Charlotte Hornets in 2023, his return to the NBA spotlight is expected to significantly enhance viewer interest and engagement.

Fans and analysts alike are already buzzing about the potential impact of Jordan’s insights, as the greatest player of all time brings his unique voice and experience to a new generation of NBA fans.
