R&B star Mario found himself trending this weekend after a viral moment at his Big Fresno Fair performance on October 12 — when he abruptly stopped his set to kick a cameraman off stage in front of the crowd.

The 37-year-old “Let Me Love You” singer was in the middle of performing his 2004 classic “Braid My Hair” when he suddenly turned and confronted an unexpected presence onstage.

In the viral clip, Mario can be seen visibly irritated, saying,

“Ayo, you gotta get the fk off the stage, dawg. Get him off the stage… Yo, get the fk off the stage, n*a, get the fk off the stage.”

Fans online were split — some defending Mario’s reaction, citing safety concerns, while others felt his tone was too harsh for a seemingly harmless situation.

Hours later, Mario took to social media to set the record straight and issue an explanation — and an apology.

“PEOPLE ARE MISINFORMED ABOUT THE FRESNO SITUATION,” he wrote. “NO ONE TOLD US A CAMERA MAN WAS SHOOTING MY SET… MULTIPLE TIMES I GOT DISTRACTED AND ONE TIME ALMOST TRIPPED OVER A SPEAKER TRYING TO MAKE SURE I’M NOT WALKING IN THE SAME DIRECTION AS HIM. HE WAS TOO FAR DOWN STAGE… IT REALLY CAN THROW YOU OFF.”

Mario admitted that frustration got the best of him:

“I WILL TAKE ACCOUNTABILITY FOR BEING 0 TO 100 TYPE OF PERSON. I NEVER WANT ONE RECORDED INCIDENT TO WIPE AWAY THE WORK I’VE DONE AS A PERSON TO STAY OUT OF YA’LL MOUTHS AND THE BLOGS!”

He ended on a positive note, addressing both the cameraman and his fans:

“TO THE CAMERA MAN, YOU GOT CAUGHT IN THE CROSSFIRE MY BOI… IT WAS NOTHING PERSONAL. YOU’RE WELCOMED TO COME AND SHOOT ME ON TOUR. TO THE FANS WHO WERE TRIGGERED, I LOVE U.”

The incident may have shocked fans, but Mario’s transparency — and willingness to take accountability — quickly won many back over.
