Keke Palmer Drops New Song “My Confession,” Finally Telling Her Side of the Usher/Darius Jackson Drama

Nearly two years after a viral moment at Usher’s Las Vegas residency ignited a firestorm of debates and controversy, Keke Palmer is ready to tell her truth — in the form of music. The multi-hyphenate entertainer released a preview of her new track “My Confession,” which addresses the drama between her and ex-partner Darius Jackson, whose criticism of her outfit at the show sparked widespread backlash.

“It’s the outfit tho… you a mom,” Jackson infamously tweeted in response to a video of Palmer being serenaded by Usher, further stating, “This is my family & my representation. I have standards & morals to what I believe. I rest my case.” That moment unraveled into a public saga involving restraining orders, domestic violence allegations, and a custody battle over their child.

But now, Palmer is reclaiming the narrative. In a powerful clip shared on Instagram, Palmer teases “My Confession,” the lead single from her upcoming project Just Keke, due out June 20. The track cleverly samples Usher’s “Confessions, Part II,” flipping the narrative with candid lyrics and a stunning revelation: “Summer 23 we was in Vegas right / Broke up wit me and you hopped up on a flight.” According to her, the relationship was already over by the time the viral video hit.

“This one is personal,” Palmer wrote in her caption. “‘My Confession’ is exactly what it sounds like—me giving voice to the feelings I buried… My peace… clarity. My way of letting go.”

Though the song offers closure, there seems to be healing on both sides. Darius Jackson recently enlisted in the U.S. Army, with Palmer publicly expressing pride in his “redemption” journey. The two are now co-parenting after a period of legal tension and conflict.
