Dolphins Release Tyreek Hill After ACL Injury — “The Cheetah Will Be Back”
The Miami Dolphins officially released star wide receiver Tyreek Hill on Monday, closing the chapter on his four-year run with the franchise.
Hill, who turns 32 on March 1, is currently rehabbing from a season-ending knee injury suffered in Week 4 against the New York Jets. The injury required surgery to repair significant damage to his left knee, including a torn ACL. He was carted off the field after his knee twisted awkwardly near the sideline and was later placed on injured reserve.
The move was part of a larger roster shake-up for Miami. The Dolphins also parted ways with offensive lineman James Daniels, receiver Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, and are set to release two-time Pro Bowl pass rusher Bradley Chubb.
Miami originally acquired Hill in a blockbuster trade with the Kansas City Chiefs ahead of the 2022 season, signing him to a four-year, $120 million extension that made him the highest-paid receiver in the league at the time. His contract ran through 2026 and would have counted roughly $51 million against the salary cap.
On the field, Hill delivered elite production. He posted back-to-back 1,700-yard seasons in his first two years in Miami, including a league-leading 1,799 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2023. However, 2024 marked a dip in production, and he entered 2025 determined to bounce back before the injury cut his season short after just 21 catches for 265 yards.
Hill’s tenure in Miami wasn’t without turbulence. From an altercation with police outside Hard Rock Stadium before the 2024 opener to publicly hinting he wanted a change of scenery after pulling himself from a season finale, the ride was as dramatic as it was explosive.
Still, Hill made it clear he’s not done.
“These past few years have been some of the most meaningful of my life and career,” he wrote on Instagram. “The Cheetah don’t slow down. Ever… The Cheetah will be back… Born Again.”
Whether he suits up for another contender or writes a new chapter elsewhere, one thing is certain — Tyreek Hill believes this story isn’t over.
