Belly star Taral Hicks is finally setting the record straight about one of the most talked-about scenes in hip-hop movie history. The actress, who played Keisha in the 1998 cult classic alongside DMX and Nas, revealed in a recent interview with The Progress Report that the infamous intimate scene with DMX was not her at all.

Taral explained that she had no idea until she saw the movie at its premiere:

“X was a cool kid. He was professional, and his wife was on set. I literally did my work and went home. So the infamous scene that everybody talks about, I hate to bust everybody’s bubble, but that wasn’t me.”

According to Hicks, her body double was asked to do the scene after she left set, but even she declined. The production eventually called in someone else to film it without her knowledge.

“I looked at Hype [Williams] like, what is this? I thought I was just gonna be in there being bad and doing some cussing. I didn’t have any control over that.”

The actress also revealed that the scene had lasting effects on her career, as many people assumed she filmed it. She turned down multiple roles afterward because they tried to typecast her into doing more explicit scenes.

“That wasn’t even me. I have kids, and I wasn’t trying to do that then or ever. But it’s all good — Keisha is an icon, and I learned a lesson.”

Even with the controversy, Taral Hicks remains a fan favorite, proving that her role as Keisha left a lasting cultural impact — whether it was her on screen or not.
