⚖️🚫 YNW Melly Denied Bond Again — Judge Says Evidence in Double-Murder Case Still Strong Enough for Conviction

YNW Melly will remain behind bars after a Florida judge officially denied his latest attempt to be released on bond ahead of his retrial.

The rapper — born Jamell Demons — appeared in court following an evidentiary hearing in Fort Lauderdale on April 30, where prosecutors argued they still have enough evidence to convict him in the high-profile double-murder case out of Broward County.

Judge Martin S. Fein ultimately sided with the prosecution, ruling that the state’s case remains legally strong enough to justify keeping Melly jailed without bond as the retrial approaches.

In the court order, the judge stated that after reviewing testimony, trial evidence, and electronic court records, the prosecution’s evidence was “arguably sufficient to convict.” The court also cited Florida legal standards that apply to serious capital cases, saying the “proof of guilt is evident and the presumption of guilt is great.”

Several witnesses reportedly testified during the hearing, including Audrey Gross, Nikaya Mirhadi-Pathon, Kevin Corbett, Matthew Norman, and Victor Delgado. According to the judge, each witness was considered credible.

The ruling also referenced earlier bond denials from both 2023 and 2025 following Melly’s mistrial. However, the judge did clarify one important point — declining to adopt previous claims suggesting Melly had affiliations with violent gangs.

Melly, who turned 28 on May 1, exploded onto the rap scene in 2018 with his breakout hit Murder on My Mind. He later surrendered to authorities in 2019 after being charged in connection with the deaths of two close friends.

The case has remained one of hip hop’s most closely watched legal battles, especially after the original trial ended in a mistrial. Now, all eyes are on the retrial scheduled for January 6, 2027, in Broward County.

Until then, YNW Melly will remain locked up without bond as the State of Florida continues prosecuting the case.
