The Academy Has Issued A Statement After Teyana Taylor Was Shoved At The Oscars

A tense moment unfolded at the 98th Academy Awards involving Teyana Taylor, and now more details are coming out about what really went down.

The One Battle After Another star — who was nominated for Best Supporting Actress — was caught on video confronting a man she claims put his hands on her during the celebration.

“You’re a man putting your hands on a female,” Taylor is heard saying in the viral clip, repeatedly calling the man “very rude.” She also told people nearby, “He literally shoved me” and claimed another woman was nearly pushed as well.

The incident reportedly happened shortly after One Battle After Another took home Best Picture. According to witnesses, Taylor had gone to assist Pam Abdy and Mike De Luca in getting to the stage for a group photo.

However, when they attempted to head back up, a security guard allegedly blocked their path and physically stopped Taylor from returning to the stage, leading to the heated exchange.

Sources say the situation escalated further when the guard allegedly told Taylor, “You owe me an apology,” which only made things worse.

The security company involved, Security Industry Specialists, later released a statement acknowledging the situation. They described the contact as “incidental” but admitted the moment escalated and said it did not meet their standards of professionalism.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences also responded, making it clear they were disappointed by the incident and emphasizing that guest safety and respect are a priority.

Despite the situation, Taylor later downplayed the drama, telling reporters she was “perfectly fine” and that “security was just doing a lot.” Still, she made it clear she doesn’t tolerate disrespect, especially when it feels unprovoked.

While Taylor didn’t take home the Best Supporting Actress award — losing to Amy Madigan for Weapons — her film One Battle After Another dominated the night, winning multiple awards including Best Picture.

Even with the awkward moment, Taylor remained composed and continued celebrating a major night for her film and career.
