J. Cole Fires Back at Cam’ron’s Lawsuit — Says ‘Ready ’24’ Case Should Be Thrown Out ASAP

The back-and-forth between J. Cole and Cam’ron just hit a new level — the courtroom.

On Tuesday (Feb. 10), J. Cole’s legal team officially responded to Cam’ron’s lawsuit over the track “Ready ’24” from Cole’s 2024 mixtape Might Delete Later, and they’re not playing defense — they’re asking the judge to toss the entire case out.

According to documents filed in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, Cole’s attorneys deny nearly all of the claims made in Cam’s 2025 complaint. In the filing, they argue that Cam’ron is not a joint author or co-owner of the track and that he consented to the use of the recording — meaning he’s not entitled to any financial payout.

“The relief requested requires no response as there are no facts alleged therein,” the motion reads. “To the extent any response is required, Defendants deny the allegations in the relief requested, object to the relief requested, and deny that Plaintiff is entitled to any of the relief requested in the Complaint (or any other relief whatsoever).”

Cam originally filed suit last October, claiming that after he appeared on “Ready ’24,” Cole promised to return the favor with a verse. When that didn’t happen, Cam alleges they made a verbal agreement for Cole to appear on his podcast instead. Cam says multiple follow-ups went unanswered — which ultimately led him to take legal action.

Now, Cole’s team is pushing back hard, essentially arguing there’s no legal standing for Cam’s claims.

Whether this gets settled quietly or turns into a drawn-out hip-hop courtroom battle remains to be seen. But one thing is clear — this isn’t just rap beef, it’s legal smoke.
