Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is switching things up — and fans can’t stop talking about it!

The 53-year-old wrestler-turned-Hollywood heavyweight stepped out at the Venice International Film Festival on Sept. 1, debuting a noticeably slimmer frame compared to his recent blockbuster roles. The new look comes from his latest project, The Smashing Machine, where he portrays legendary MMA fighter Mark Kerr in a gritty biopic written and directed by Benny Safdie.

“This transformation was something I was really hungry to do,” Johnson told The Hollywood Reporter. “I’ve been blessed with the career I’ve had, but there was always a little voice inside saying, What if I could do more?”

Johnson hit the red carpet alongside co-star Emily Blunt, who plays Kerr’s then-wife Dawn. The premiere turned emotional when the film received a 15-minute standing ovation, bringing both Johnson and Safdie to tears as Kerr himself looked on.

The performance marks a bold shift for Johnson, best known for action-packed blockbusters like Fast & Furious and family favorites like Moana. But with The Smashing Machine, dropping in theaters October 3, The Rock is proving he’s ready to flex his acting chops in a whole new way.
