50 Cent Drags Ex Shaniqua Tompkins to Federal Court — Claims He Owns Her Life Story!
50 Cent and his ex, Shaniqua Tompkins — the mother of his eldest son, Marquise Jackson — are heading to federal court in a heated legal battle over the rights to her life story.
According to AllHipHop, which broke the exclusive on Friday (July 18), G-Unit Books filed a lawsuit accusing Tompkins of violating a 2007 agreement that granted the company exclusive, irrevocable, and perpetual rights to her name, likeness, and personal narrative.
Court documents reveal that Tompkins was paid $80,000 under the deal and promised future royalties. The agreement reportedly bars her from publicly sharing, selling, or profiting from any recounting of her life — including her relationship with 50 Cent — without G-Unit’s written consent.
The lawsuit alleges Tompkins broke that contract by releasing interviews and videos detailing her past with the hip-hop mogul and their son. Among the allegations she’s publicly made are claims of physical abuse during her 1996 pregnancy and continued verbal and physical mistreatment throughout the relationship.
G-Unit claims Tompkins reignited interest in her story following a viral social media post connected to the Diddy trial, using the renewed attention to repackage and monetize content that legally belongs to them.
“Tompkins knowingly violated the agreement and acknowledged its existence as she continued sharing the material,” G-Unit attorney Reena Jain stated. Jain emphasized that the core value of the deal lies in its exclusivity — a value she says has now been undermined.
The suit claims that 50 Cent purchased the rights to not only develop future biographical projects but also to prevent Tompkins from exploiting their shared history publicly.
“His concerns,” Jain added, “have now been realized.”
G-Unit is seeking a court order to stop Tompkins from promoting or profiting from her story, at least $1 million in damages, repayment of legal fees, and any additional relief deemed appropriate. The contract also includes an indemnification clause, which could make Tompkins liable for all resulting financial losses.
As of now, Tompkins has not issued a public response to the lawsuit.
