Ray J is getting real about his strained relationship with his sister, Grammy-winning singer Brandy Norwood, and the emotional weight he’s been carrying within his famous family.

During a revealing interview on the Drop the Lo podcast hosted by Evelyn Lozada and her daughter Shaniece Hairston, the singer and entrepreneur opened up about feeling disconnected from those closest to him.

“I love my sister. But I’m an embarrassment… to them,” Ray J confessed when asked about where things currently stand between him and Brandy.

He went on to confirm that the two are not on speaking terms and hinted at long-standing family tensions that have quietly persisted behind the scenes. When asked if he felt accepted by his family, the 43-year-old responded candidly:

“I never wanted to be accepted. I just feel like I’m an embarrassment.”

While the relationship between him and Brandy appears fractured, Ray J made it clear that the bond between their children remains intact. He shared that his kids still maintain a strong relationship with Brandy and her daughter, Sy’rai.

Throughout the episode, Ray J expressed frustration over feeling misunderstood and judged by his own family — especially when it comes to his lifestyle and choices as an entertainer and businessman.

“You want me to be something else, but I’m superseding everything y’all doing,” he said, unapologetically pushing back on the idea that he needs to change in order to earn their approval.

The emotional interview marks one of the rare times Ray J has publicly addressed his complex family dynamic, shedding light on the inner turmoil behind his public persona.

As fans react to the raw confession, many are hoping this moment of vulnerability leads to healing and reconciliation between the famous siblings.
