Keke Palmer Calls Out Double Standards for Women Who Date Men With Less Money

Keke Palmer is using her voice to challenge long-standing gender norms around relationships and money. During a recent appearance on Bevy Smith’s Radio Andy show, the multi-talented actress and singer addressed the stigma women face when dating men who earn less — and she’s not here for it.

Palmer questioned why society often gives successful men a pass for dating women with fewer financial resources, but turns critical when the roles are reversed.

“Nobody cares if a man finds his woman under a bridge,” she said. “Why do we have to deal with that?”

The Nope star pointed to Oprah Winfrey and her longtime partner Stedman Graham as a real-life example of how double standards persist, even at the highest levels of fame. Despite Oprah’s unmatched success, her relationship with Stedman has often been used as a talking point because he isn’t considered equally “powerful” in the public eye.

Palmer made her own stance crystal clear:

“Let me tell you something that Keke don’t need — money… from nobody.”

Having achieved financial independence early in life, Palmer says her focus in love has never been about status or income. Instead, it’s always come down to how a partner treats her.

“It’s about love, it’s about respect,” she explained, sharing wisdom from her father that emphasized kindness and emotional support over wealth.

Fans online have praised Palmer for her authenticity and willingness to speak on relationship dynamics that many women silently navigate. Her words are a powerful reminder that for some, a healthy relationship means prioritizing values, not net worth.
