Shannon Sharpe Breaks Silence After Sexual Assault Lawsuit, Calls Allegations a “Shakedown” and Vows to Defend Himself

Shannon Sharpe has publicly responded to the recent sexual assault lawsuit filed against him, calling the allegations a “shakedown” and accusing attorney Tony Buzbee of orchestrating a targeted attack against him.
In a lengthy and impassioned message posted to social media, the Pro Football Hall of Famer and ESPN personality addressed his supporters, family, and colleagues, stating, “I want to speak to you directly and from the heart. This is a shakedown.”
Sharpe went on to say that he plans to be “open, transparent, and defend myself,” claiming that Buzbee is manipulating the media narrative by preparing to release a selectively edited 30-second sex tape clip that he says is intended to make him “look guilty and play into every stereotype you could possibly imagine.”
According to Sharpe, the full video in question is approximately 10 minutes long. He challenged Buzbee directly in his statement: “Hey, Tony. Instead of releasing your edit, put the whole video out. I don’t have it or I would myself.”
Sharpe identified the woman accusing him as someone who goes by “Gabby” or “Carly” on OnlyFans and alleged that the encounter being referenced in the case occurred during the day at her invitation. He accused both Gabby and Buzbee of attempting to extort him for $50 million and stated plainly, “What they’re getting is sued for defamation and trying to take me down.”
The former NFL star also addressed the broader implications of the case, saying, “Tony Buzbee targets Black men,” and referenced past instances involving other high-profile figures, including Jay-Z.
Despite the legal firestorm and potential release of damaging footage, Sharpe expressed confidence and appreciation for his fanbase. “My career is all about real talk and honesty. I know my family and fans know exactly what this is about,” he wrote. “And I’m going to be out there telling you whatever I need to say just like I always do.”
He concluded his statement by thanking his supporters: “I love all you guys. Thanks.”
As of now, Buzbee has not publicly responded to Sharpe’s statement. The lawsuit and its surrounding controversy continue to develop, with both legal teams preparing for what appears to be a very public and contentious battle ahead.
