🎤 10-Foot Tina Turner Statue Unveiled in Her Hometown 🦁✨

The Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll is officially immortalized in her Tennessee roots. On Saturday, a 10-foot statue of the legendary Tina Turner was unveiled in Brownsville, the rural community just outside her childhood hometown of Nutbush. The moment was emotional for locals and fans alike, celebrating the life of a woman who grew up in small-town Tennessee before becoming one of the most iconic performers the world has ever seen.

The bronze statue, crafted by sculptor Fred Ajanogha, captures Tina in her element — wild hair flowing, microphone in hand, and full of the energy that defined her electrifying stage presence. Ajanogha said he wanted the piece to reflect her lion-like mane and the power she embodied on stage.

The unveiling was part of the annual Tina Turner Heritage Days, which honors her life and career. The ceremony took place near the West Tennessee Delta Heritage Center, home to a museum dedicated to the late singer inside the renovated Flagg Grove School — the very one-room schoolhouse she once attended as a child.

Fans traveled from near and far to celebrate. Karen Cook, who came in from Georgia with Turner’s cousin, said, “She’s a great artist, I love her music. My mom listened to her a lot. It’s a big deal and a great thing for the community to have Tina Turner in her small town.”

The statue was funded by over 50 donors, including a $150,000 contribution from Ford Motor Co., which is currently building an electric truck factory nearby in Stanton.

Tina Turner passed away in May 2023 at the age of 83, but her legacy lives on. From “Nutbush City Limits” to “What’s Love Got to Do With It”, her music and influence spanned generations — inspiring artists like Mick Jagger, Beyoncé, and Mariah Carey.

Now, her hometown has given her a permanent place of honor — one that reminds the world that legends can come from the smallest places.
